Heya,
So one of my clients has been swallowed up by Unity Technologies and is now a Product Evangelist, that means running around promoting the technology. He's going to raise the idea of a trip to NZ&Aus to give seminars on Unity at a Unity Technologies Meeting our time Wedensday. I imagine Auckland and Wellington Meetings and maybe a Chch one.
Would you out there (points) be interested either as an individual or a studio in attending?

Fo sho - I'd definitely be keen to hear more from someone who knows the product well! Would love to hear why Unity is the better choice over whatever else is out there (besides price / cut).
Confirmed "in". Also, I've just moved over to the city so you'll be seing me tomorrow.

Yup - count me in. Would depend on costs etc as to how many of the team attend. Unity FTW!
If he could come to Auckland on the first Wed night of a month he could talk at one of the Auckland GameDev Meetups. We had 50 people last night, which was a good turnout.
We would definitely be interested in more information on Unity, especially if it was practical and showing us how to get the most out of the suite for portables.
We're exploring the possibility of doing this in the first week of July. How would that sit for everyone?

Ok by me so far!
The July Auckland Game Dev Meetup is Wed 6 July from 6pm. Speakers are normally only 15-20 mins, though.
Maybe he could do a masterclass or seminar beforehand, but then do a shorter showcase/what's coming up session later?
Just an update on this, we're now looking at a date later in the year, November sometime.
Carl Callewaert Is the Unity Product Evangelist, and he has access to a lot of "Not off the shelf" knowledge about stuff like source code licensing, and online caching, which as I understand provides the required support to rum MMO's etc. A couple of angles of the software I'm not so familiar with. Hes quite keen to come to New Zealand, as are Unity Tech to extend their global domination. Unity 3.4 will probably be out in the wild by then.

Auckland University of Technology (digital design) teaches unity3d in the first and second year of the degree as a way of teaching game design and java/and c# to 3d designers/artists, it might be worth his while to contact them as between them and media design school they are the main source of local student talent (and hence part of the next generation of game developers) in New Zealand (at least to my knowledge). MMO design and source code is a bit above them (I personally would be interested :P) but Unity3d is popular with 3d designers. They have classes all year so I don't think exact date matters to them.
